Summer is definitely here, and just like our outdoor thermometer readings, Hamilton County’s travel economy is sizzling!

Signs that this will be a great summer for travel to the county include:
  • Web sessions generated from all marketing channels are up significantly for March-May when the spring/summer advertising campaign launched.
  • The new Discover You ad campaign is performing very well in target areas and is the biggest reason visitors come to the web site after organic search. 
  • Hotel bookings for June through August are strong in every category but one month. Group bookings are up 20-37% for June and July but are down for August. Sometimes this is driven by a shift of an event on the calendar. HCT is studying the calendar to explore ideas.
  • Business and leisure driven transient hotel room bookings are ahead of pace between 12 – 46% each week over the same time last year for June through August.
  • Short-term home rentals also are up significantly year-over-year for the summer. Booked listings are up 39-67% year over year monthly.

In the three months of June - August 2023 alone, almost 850,000 overnight visitors accounting for 2.1 million visit nights spent almost $400 million in Hamilton County. And Summer 2023 saw a slight decline in group visitation, although the year ended positive as a whole.

Summer 2024 travel seems to be back in full swing and Hamilton County could inch toward the 1 million overnight visitor mark.
