Six months and dozens of public input sessions later, the Task 3 portion of the White River Vision Plan – the important phase, the interesting one, the design phase – is now available for public input.

In Hamilton County, the focus areas are Strawtown Koteewi Park/North Reach, Downtown Noblesville/Meadow Reach and Allisonville Stretch/Meadow Reach. In addition, there’s a snippet of Fishers’ southwest corner in The Crossing/Quarry Reach that’s important for connectivity.

The pragmatist in all of us will view these lofty ideas and ponder how and when and what can be done. For now, let’s allow the dreamer in all of to consider how this river might look in 30 years.

At the already vibrant Strawtown Koteewi Park, how can we reveal the river without disturbing important conservation zones? In densely populated historic downtown Noblesville, how can we get visitors and residents down to the river walk … and even further down into the river to enjoy all it has to offer?

South of Noblesville, how can those lush wetlands and important habitats be accessed sensitively, and once those quarries come off line, how can they contribute to flood control and provide truly unique experiences that utilize the typography there?

How can the plan support Conner Prairie’s big visions for its future and reach south and north from this amazing parcel of prairie/wetlands to create a string of opportunities to learn and experience some of the most scenic areas of the White River?

Take a moment and explore these ideas and provide your critically important input as together we dream about how this river can create new opportunities for residents and visitors.
