The organization’s big item is its new Tucker Swain Memorial Scholarship, in honor of a young Westfield resident who tragically passed away in 2023. Westfield Youth Sports is funding two $1,000 scholarships for Westfield High School graduates who came through the sports system and sponsoring a large baseball tournament in Tucker Swain’s name. That tournament is set for April 26-28 across eight fields at Shamrock Springs Elementary in Westfield.
“The family and people around the family are all amazing,” Wright said. “They are still very involved and the entire community has rallied around them.”
Wright was a board member for Westfield Youth Sports before being hired as the organization’s first full-time executive director. They sponsor 11 sports currently and are aiming to grow the operation across the board, starting with the search for new baseball facilities in 2025 and beyond.
